Mayurpankhi resumes flying from Mar 7

Staff Correspondent: The hijack attempted bullet-hit Biman Bangladesh Airlines aircraft Mayurpankhi will resume flying from tomorrow (March 7) following repairing.

Biman’s spokesperson Shakil Meraj, General Manager (PR), came up with the information on Wednesday.

“The carrier is scheduled to take off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for Sylhet at 10.45 am tomorrow,” Meraj said.

After the hijack attempt incident engineers found two bullet hits in the aircraft body and a damaged switchboard. The bullet hits and damaged switchboard have been repaired and replaced in Dhaka, Biman officials said.

The Dubai-bound Boeing 737-800 aircraft made an emergency landing at the Chattogram airport at 5:41pm on February 25 after a youth named Polash Ahmed allegedly attempted to hijack the plane.

He was killed later in an eight-minute operation by military para-commandos.
