Staff Correspondent: Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said media and journalists of Bangladesh are enjoying more freedom than any other countries in the world.
The minister made the assertion while addressing a meeting with press councilor leaders of India, Nepal and Sri Lanka at his secretariat office in the capital on Tuesday.
He said many media are shut, many officers quit their posts and some organizations paid fine for publishing wrong news in the United Kingdom. But, there is no example of such incidents in Bangladesh.
Dr Hasan Mahmud also said, “We want to take the quality and excellence of Bangladeshi media to the level of UK. That’s why we expect responsibility from media.”
Information secretary M A Malek, Bangladesh Press Council Chairman Justice Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, Press Council member Manzurul Ahmed Bulbul and others attended the function.
