Staff Correspondent: Dhaka Road Transport Owners' Association and Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) will sit for a meeting on Wednesday afternoon in a bid to end chaos in public transport.
The meeting will be held at BRTA headquarters in Tejgaon in the capital at 4:00pm.
Experts, representatives of passenger forums and the civil society have been asked to join the meeting.
Dhaka Road Transport Owners' Association President Khandker Enayet Ullah told risingbd.com, "The BRTA has called a meeting over the situation and told us to attend the meeting."
In reply to a query, he said, "Before the meeting, nothing can be said about whether the sitting service will be restored or not."
Dhaka Road Transport Owners' Association on April 16 came up with a decision to stop 'Sitting Service' or 'Gate Lock' in Dhaka public transport.
Since then, buses of 'Sitting Service' or 'Gate Lock' did not follow a chart of fares set by the government.
As a result, brawls were reported on many buses as commuters accused transport workers of charging them excessive fares. People were seen stranded with fewer buses plying the routes.
