Migrant boat capsizes off Tunisia: Six from Sylhet die

Staff Correspondent, Sylhet: At least six Bangladesh nationals from Sylhet died in Friday's boat capsize in the sea while attempting to reach Europe from Libya.

The deceased are- Habib Shamim, 19, Kamran Ahmed Maruf, 23, Abdul Aziz, 24, son of Harun Mia, hailed from Muyidpur village of Fenchuganj upazila, Ahmed, 24, son of Montu Mia, Liton, 24, son of Siraj Mia, and another one from the village remained unidentified instantly.

Earlier, international agencies claimed that most of the victims were Bangladeshis.

At least 75 migrants drowned on Friday when their boat capsized in the Mediterranean Sea off the Tunisian coast after they had left Libya hoping to reach Europe, the UN refugee agency UNHCR said.
