Militancy major obstacle in Bangladesh's progress: PM

Parliament Correspondent: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that militancy is one of the major obstacles to the progress and securities of the country.
The premier made the opinion while replying to a written question of MP Begum Akhtar Jahan at 15th national parliament session on Wednesday afternoon.
Sheikh Hasina said, "Bangladesh is a land of communal harmony. People of the country hate communalism and militancy. Militancy is one of the major obstacles to the progress and securities of the country."
"The incumbent government took zero tolerance policy against militancy. Now Bangladesh is being considered as a role model in curbing militancy," she said.
The prime minister also said that following some intelligence information, the law enforcers conducted some successful drive and killed some top militant leaders. Bangladesh has set a brilliant example in proactive policing.
