Mobile bank users now 4.98cr

Economic Correspondent: Mobile banking in Bangladesh continues to grow fast, scaling a new height.

The number of mobile bank users increased by 79 lakh in last one month (January to February), according to a Bangladesh Bank data. 

The total registered mobile banking accounts reached 49,854,000 at the end of February. Earlier, the number was 41,933,000 in January.

People are becoming increasingly comfortable with the banking platform, analysts said.

Recently, Bangladesh Bank imposed the restriction to curb misuse of mobile financial services. MFS providers differ with the central bank over the recent measure, claiming that such restriction will not prevent the misuse, but will limit the access of the poor to the financial services.
