Model Tulona, her brother land in jail

Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka court has sent model and presenter Tulona Al-Harun and her younger brother Layek Ali to jail in a case filed with the capital's Banani Police Station under Information and Communication Technology (ICT) act.

Dhaka Metropolitan magistrate Khurshid Alam passed the order on Friday, confirmed Farid Ali, general registrar of the court, on Saturday.

Earlier on Friday morning, Banani police arrested Tulona and her younger brother from their Banani residence on Friday morning, confirmed Inspector Abdul Matin.

The case was filed by one of their colleagues who is also engaged in modeling. But police denied disclosing his/her name.

The case was filed for humiliating the plaintiff socially using technology, according to police.

Tulona Al-Harun is niece (daughter of brother) of late dramatist Abdullah Al-Mamun.  She wrote her name in entertainment media through taking part in  “You Got the Look” pageant in 2007. She also became brand ambassador of Grameenphone that year. Later, she played role in several dramas and telefilms.  Besides, she worked as presenter in several ramp models and TV programmes.
