Modern smart card being given to Rohingya orphan children

Senior Correspondent: The government has decided to provide every Rohingya orphan child a modern smart card.

The Social Welfare Ministry has already started the process to distribute the smart card among them.

The decision was taken following the direction made by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

State Minister for Social Welfare Ministry Nuruzzaman Ahmed came up with the information while addressing a press conference at the secretariat on Tuesday noon.

“There will be separate arrangements for the Rohingya orphan children aged 0-18. They will also be divided into two groups, said Nuruzzaman,” adding that, "By filling up a form, the government is making database on the orphan children."

Meanwhile, some 2,000 orphan children have been enlisted while their total number is around 6,000, he informed.

The form fill-up activities for the rest of the orphan children will be ended by seven days, he hoped.

Zillar Rahman, secretary of Social Welfare Ministry, was present during this time.
