Mother-daughter die from electrocution in city

Staff Correspondent: A woman and her daughter died after being electrocuted and two others have been injured at the capital's Jatrabari.

The incident took place at Purba Sheikhdi area of Jatrabari around 3:45pm on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Jahanara Begum, 40, and her daughter Sharmin, 13.

Anisur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jatrabari Police Station, confirmed the news.

He said, "Jahanara and Sharmin got on the roof top of a two-storey building in order to dry clothes. They both tried to make straight a curve rod there. But, it suddenly came in contact with a live electric wire, leaving them dead on the spot."

"Two others were injured as they went forward to save them. They were admitted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH)," he added.
