'Mufti Hannan to be executed as per jail code'

Staff Correspondent: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that convicted militant leader Mufti Abdul Hannan and three others to be executed as per jail code.

The Minister made the assertion while replying to newsmen at his secretariat on Sunday noon.

Asaduzzaman Khan said that all types of steps are going as other legal procedure has ended.

Now the jail authority will do everything as per jail code, he added.

In reply to a question, he also said that no specific date was fixed over execution yet but the procedure is underway.

Earlier, the president has rejected petitions for clemency filed by banned Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami chief Mufti Abdul Hannan and its two activists.

Earlier on March 19, the Appellate Division rejected the petitions of Mufti Hannan and the two seeking review of their death sentences for murdering three persons and leaving former UK high commissioner Anwar Choudhury by throwing bombs in 2004.
