Mugger killed in gunfight with RAB in N'ganj

Staff Correspondent, Narayanganj: A mugger was killed in 'gunfights' with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-1 in Rupganj of Narayanganj early Wednesday.

The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Based on secret information, a team of RAB-1 conducted a drive in the area. Sensing the presence of the elite force, the criminals opened fire on them, forcing them to fire back which triggered a gunfight.

Later, the RAB rescued the mugger with bullet wounds and took him to Rupganj Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared him dead.

Rupganj police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Moniruzzaman confirmed the matter.

A lethal weapon and a foreign made pistol were seized from the spot.
