Muhith for implementing new VAT law July 1

Special Correspondent: Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith said new VAT law will be implemented from July 1.

He has also remained firm on his decision to collect 15 percent VAT.

The minister made his firm decision on implementing the new VAT law after a meeting at the Secretariat on Monday.

After the meeting, Muhith said, “We are firm on our decision to put the new VAT law into action from July 1.”

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Md Nojibur Rahman, chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), Md Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, senior vice-president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), former FBCCI presidents-- Salman F Rahman, Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed, AK Azad and other business representatives attended the meeting.
