My life is a gift; says plane crash victim Shahreen

Staff Correspondent: Another survivor of US-Bangla plane crash in Nepal Shahreen Ahmed has been released from Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).

She left the hospital around 12:00pm on Sunday after the authority released her around 10:30am.

Talking to media, Shahreen said, “My life is a gift. I saw three people to die in the crash with my own eyes.  I seek everyone’s prayers and hope to return to normal life soon. I am grateful and happy to go home.”

Samanta Lal Sen, national coordinator of DMCH burn unit, said, “Shahreen is now doing well. She has come round 90 percent of her injuries. She will have to come to the hospital after two weeks for a follow-up on her health.”

“We have been able to make release a total of four survivors of the tragic plane crash. I hope, others will also come round soon. Another victim Almun Nahar Annie is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. Still, her mental condition is not out of danger. So, she will have remain under treatment for some more weeks,” he added.

Another victim Kabir Hossain, who is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Singapore, has now contracted infection on his left leg, Samanta Lal Sen said.

He said, “The leg has been infected severely. It may also be severed.”

Earlier on March 26, his right leg was amputated in the hospital.

So far, at least 50 people, including 27 Bangladeshis, died as an aircraft of US-Bangla Airlines from Dhaka to Kathmandu crashed at Tribhuvan International Airport in Nepal on March 12.
