Myanmar moves away from Saint Martin’s claim

Secretariat Correspondent: Myanmar has moved away from the claim of Saint Martin’s Island as part of the country’s territory.

Shahidul Haque, senior secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, came up with the disclosure after the 20th meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry held at the National Parliament Building on Sunday.

He said, “Myanmar Ambassador in Dhaka U Lwin Oo was summoned and strongly protested over the matter. Then, they removed the map from their website.”

Mentionable, Myanmar had claimed the Saint Martin’s Island as part of their territory in a map published on the website of the country’s Department of Population.
