NBR names 10 as commissioner of the year

MA Rahman: The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has selected 10 commissioners as the commissioner of the year for their sincerity in performing duties and achieving goals in the outgoing fiscal year 2016-2017.

NBR selected them from the departments of Income Tax, Value Added Tax (VAT /Duty) and Customs.

NBR came up with the disclosure after it achieved the targeted revenue goals, confirmed NBR's Senior Information Officer Syed A Momen.

Among the ten, three were selected from Income Tax department. They are Apurba Kanti Das (Tax Zone -10), Abu Taher Chowdhury (Tax Zone-8) and Alamgir Hossain (large taxpayer unit).

Three of the commissioners were chosen from Value Added Tax (VAT) department. They are Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate (Dhaka East) AKM Nuruzzaman, Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate (Jessore) Jamal Hossain and Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate (Dhaka-North) Masud Sadik.

Four were selected from Customs department. They are Shawkat Hossain (Customs House-Benapole) and FM Abdullah (Customs House-Chittagon), Prakash Dewan (Customs House-Dhaka) and Farzana Afroz (Customs House-ICT).
