NBR to provide tax payment pins now

Economic Correspondent: The National Board of Revenue (NBR) is going to provide tax payment pins (coat pins) to the taxpayers to easily recognise the taxpayers.

NBR Chairman Md Nojibur Rahman made the disclosure while addressing inaugural ceremony of the tax fair at the NBR's under-construction headquarters in the capital’s Agargaon on Wednesday.

He said, "In the first year in 2010, some 60,500 people services from the Fair. But, about 9.29 lakh people took the service from tax fair in 2016. It’s a great achievement to me."

"Tk 2,310 crore was deposited in the State Coffer in last year. I hope that the number will cross Tk 3,000 this year," he added.

NBR Chairman Md Nojibur Rahman promised that the standard of services of NBR would increase further from now on.

Mentioning that the huge 'State Coffer' enriched with the taxpayers money is being utilised for implementing many development projects of the country, Nojibur said that the countrywide held tax camps have touched the hearts of common people.

Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) acting Vice President Sheikh Fazle Fahim joined the programme as a special guest.
