New Zealand beat Bangladesh by 8 wickets

Sports Desk: Hosts New Zealand beat Bangladesh by eight wickets in the opener of the three match One-Day series at McLean Park, Napier on Wednesday.

Bangladesh managed to set 233-run target for the hosts after Tiger skipper Mashrafe won the toss and opted to bat first.

The Tigers lost four wickets before posting 50 runs on the board. Despite this poor start to the innings, Bangladesh posted 232 with the help of Mithun’s 62 and his two partnerships of 37 and 84 with Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mohammad Saifuddin respectively in the seventh and eighth wicket partnership.

In chase, New Zealand reached the target just losing two wickets in 44.3 overs.

Martin Guptill (unbeaten) posted a brilliant century. He hit 117 runs off 116 balls with 8 fours and 4 sixes.

Ross Taylor (unbeaten) scored 45 runs from 49 balls which includes 6 fours.

Henry Nicholls hit 53 runs off 80 balls with 5 fours.
