NZ mosque attack: Students mourn Dr Abdus Samad's death

Staff Correspondent, Rangpur: The students of Bangladesh Agricultural University expressed deep shock at the death of their beloved teacher Dr Abdus Samad.

Three Bangladeshis have been confirmed dead so far in the Christchurch mosque shooting in New Zealand on Friday. The deceased were identified as Dr Abdus Samad, his wife (unnamed as of yet), and another Hosne Ara Farid.

Abdus Samad was a professor of Agricultural Information Department of Bangladesh Agricultural University. After the retirement, he along with his family moved to New Zealand. He took a PhD degree there. The officials, students of Bangladesh Agricultural University expressed profound shock at the premature death of the agricultural scientist.

AKM Zakir Hossain, Professor of crop plant science department of Mymensingh said, “He was our direct teacher. Sir, lived in New Zealand along with his two sons and wife. No ward is enough to express our feelings following his death.”

We prayed for salvation of the departed soul and expressed our heartfelt sympathy to members of the bereaved family."

Rangpur Agricultural Information Service Officer Abu Sayem said, “We lost a great teacher. He was a friendly teacher.”
