Nani Gopal jailed for 3yrs

Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka court on Sunday sentenced General Manager of Sonali Bank Nani Gopal Nath to three years in jail in a case filed for not submitting his wealth statement.

The court also fined him Tk 10 lakh in this connection.

Judge Md Akhtaruzzaman of Special Judge Court-5 in Dhaka passed the order this afternoon.

According to the case statement, being informed about acquiring illegal wealth by Nani Gopal, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) sent a notice asking him to submit his wealth statement on April 1, 2015. But the ACC filed the case against him on January 31, 2016 as he did not submit his wealth statement in due time. After investigation, ACC Assistant Director Mojibur Rahman submitted charge sheet of the case to the court.
