Narsingdi drive: 3 youths handed over to their families

Narsingdi Correspondent:  Three of the five young men who surrendered to Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) during a raid on a ‘militant den’ at Gabtali Uttarpara in Sadar upazila have been handed over to their families.

Mashiur Rahman, Bashirul Islam and Masudur Rahman were handed over to their families at Rab-11 battalion headquarters in Narayanganj on Sunday night.

Rab-11 commanding officer Lt Col Quamrul Hasan said they were freed as they were not found involved in militancy in primary investigation.

He also said they were examining whether the two other youths -- Abu Zafar Mia and Salahuddin -- have any link with militancy. “The decision about them will be taken following further scrutiny,” he said.
