Nasim for creating pressure on Myanmar to take back Rohingyas

Staff Correspondent: Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim on Sunday urged the Commonwealth countries to exert pressure on Myanmar to take back Rohingyas to their homeland.

The minister made the call while speaking at a meeting of Health Ministers' of Commonwealth members' countries of Asian region at Geneva, Switzerland.

Nasim said, “Please create pressure on Myanmar so that they take back Rohingyas to their country from Bangladesh.”

“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given shelters to Rohingyas with her motherly affection, on humanitarian ground. We (the government) are providing them with accommodation, food and medical supports. But, It would not be possible to continue the support for a long time,” he said.

Nasim put emphasis on strengthening the network and cooperation among the Commonwealth member countries to fight against non-communicable diseases.

He urged all the Commonwealth countries to be united to provide health services among unprivileged people of the countries to achieve universal health coverage (UHC).
