Need to limit number of banks: Muhith

Special Correspondent: Finance Minister AMA Muhith stressed the need for keeping the number of banks limited in the country as the number has increased too much.

“At present, the condition of our banks and financial institutions is good but their number needs to keep limited. I think there is a necessity for reducing the number of banks and financial institutions operating in the country,” he said.

The finance minister said this while responding to a query of journalists after a meeting of the cabinet committee on public purchase at the secretariat in Dhaka on Wednesday.
