Staff Correspondent: Shahreen Ahmed, who sustained injuries in her legs in a tragic plane crash in Nepal, has been brought to the country. She has been admitted to the Burn unit of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).

Ambulance carrying Shahreen from the Shahjalal International Airport reached DMCH around 5:00pm on Thursday.

Dr Samanta Lal Sen, national coordinator at National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery of DMCH, received her.

A flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines (BG072) carrying Shahreen touched down the Shahjalal airport around 3:48pm. Two of her brothers accompanied her in the flight, confirmed Biman General Manager (public relations) Shakil Meraz.

An ambulance was kept ready with two nurses to receive Shahreen at the airport. The ambulance left the airport around 4:15pm.

The nurses were known as Sumon Kumar Sarkar and Sumona Khanam. Both of them are senior staff nurses of DMCH.

Partha Shankar Pal, a resident surgeon of DMCH Burn unit, said, “Shahreen has been admitted to the hospital. We have all out preparations to give her treatment here.”

At least 50 people including 26 Bangladeshis were killed as an aircraft of US-Bangla Airlines- with 67 passengers and four crews on board- crashed at Tribhuvan International Airport at Kathmandu in Nepal on Monday.

The airliner crashed after making an unexpected turn in cloudy weather as it came in to land at the airport in Nepal's capital.
