New Barishal city mayor takes oath

Staff Correspondent: Newly elected mayor of Barishal City Corporation Serniabat Sadiq Abdullah has taken oath of office.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina administered the mayor oath at a ceremony held at her office on Monday morning.

Besides, Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain administered the oath to the councilors. Meanwhile, Local Government Division Senior Secretary Dr Zafar Ahmed Khan conducted the oath-taking ceremony.

Awami League mayoral candidate Serniabat Sadiq Abdullah was elected mayor in the Barishal City Corporation election. Getting 111,956 votes he won the polls. His nearest candidate BNP contestant Mujibur Rahman Sarwar got 13,776 votes.
