New MPO teachers to get enhanced salary from July

Secretariat Correspondent: Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said teachers who will be enlisted under the Monthly Pay Order (MPO) scheme in a fresh move will get enhanced salary from July of this year.

The Minister told this to a five member-delegation of non- MPO education institutions when they called on him at his office in the Secretariat on Wednesday.

He also assured them to meet their demands in this regard.

Nahid also told them different attempts and initiatives of the government to bring non-MPO educational institutions under MPO scheme.

The Minister said that his ministry will try to bring a maximum number of institutions under MPO scheme. Two committees are working in this regard. Teachers who will be enlisted under MPO scheme in the fresh move will get enhanced salary from July this year.

The education ministry is working for welfare of teachers from the very beginning. This time also, the ministry is maintaining all activities for new MPO enlistment, he added.

He also urged teacher leaders to call off their strike.

Later, non-MPO teachers announced to postpone their month-long hunger strike.
