New Zealand beat Bangladesh by 8 wickets in 2nd ODI

Abu Hossain Porag: Hosts New Zealand beat Bangladesh by eight wickets in the 2nd ODI of the three match series at Christchurch on Saturday.

Following the victory, the Black Caps clinched the ODI series after another ton from opener Martin Guptill. He took 118 runs hitting 88 balls.

Earlier, Bangladesh managed to set 227-run target for the host after New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson won toss and opted to bowl first.

Mohammad Mithun’s second successive half-century propelled Tigers to recover the early collapse. He scored 57 runs facing 69 deliveries. Batsmen Sabbir Rahman and Mushfiqur Rahim scored 43 and 24 runs respectively.

In reply, New Zealand reached the target easily just losing only two wickets in 36.1 Overs.

Martin Guptill, the Man of the Match feels that this was a much better hundred than the previous match, reckons this pitch was an easier one to bat on.

The final match of the ODI series will be held on Wednesday at University Oval, Dunedin.
