New gas field found in Bhola

Secretariat Correspondent: Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company Ltd (BAPEX) has found a new reserve of natural gas in Shahbazpur of Bhola district.

Cabinet Secretary Shafiul Alam made the disclosure while addressing newsmen at the secretariat on Monday noon.

It is expected that there are around 700 billion cubic feet gas in the new gas reservoir.

Shafiul Alam said, "BAPEX is working in Bhola. A new gas field was found at Shahbazpur. Earlier, a similar gas field was discovered in Bhola. But, this time the new gas field is comparably larger."

"It’s a great news for our country. However, the information over new gas field is primary level. Ministry of Power, Energy & Mineral Resources will disclose the matter soon," he added.
