Staff Correspondent, Narayanganj: Workers of a garment factory in Narayanganj today staged demonstration demanding an increase in their salary.
Sources said that the police and the workers locked into a clash around 11:00am which continued till 12:30pm. Meanwhile, the agitated workers vandalized some factories in the area. An assistant police super, Officer-in-Charge of Fatullah police station and over 50 workers received injury during the clash.
BKMEA former president also MV Nit fashion managing director Md Hatem said there was an unrest among the factory workers since last three days following salary increase issue.
The factory owner, authority of BISIC, BKMEA and officials from labour department joined the meeting to solve the unrest on Monday. Later, the authority assured the workers to sit again over issue. But, the workers started protest inside the BISIC which spread adjacent factories instantly.
Narayanganj industries police-4 additional police super Mahabub-un-Nabi confirmed the matter.
