Ninety-seven arrested in 51 cases over instigation

Staff Correspondent: At least 97 people were arrested in 51 cases filed with different police stations for allegedly instigation on social networking sites till August 11 since killing of two students in road crash on Airport road in the capital on July 29, according to DMP.

Media wing of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Wednesday said, “14 cases were lodged in Ramna Zone over instigation on social media and violent incidents. A total of 31 people were arrested in the cases.”

“20 people were arrested in 10 cases filed against unnamed people while 11 arrested in other four cases filed against 84 accused. Of the 14 cases, police stations concerned are investigating into 13 cases,” DMP said.

A case was lodged with Lalbag Police Station against a man and 50 to 60 other unnamed people. Besides, two cases were filed with Wary Zone against 350 to 450 unknown people. A man was detained in the two cases.

Meanwhile, 10 people were arrested in six cases against anonymous people lodged with Motijheel Zone. Other six people were nabbed in two cases filed with Tejgaon Zone. A case was filed against 500 to 600 unknown students of BUBT, Commerce College and other colleges. Besides, five cases were lodged with Kafrul Police Station. Of the cases, one was filed against 50 to 60 unknown people while three against 96 people.
