Staff Correspondent: The Supreme Court today stayed the High court order that halted all activities to hold recruitment tests of three banks-Sonali, Rupali and Janata Bank- supposed to be held on January 12.
As a result, there is no bar to hold the examination for recruiting senior officers, officers and cash officers in three state-run banks.
Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division Justice Syed Mahmud Hussain stayed for six weeks the High Court order which halted the examinations scheduled for tomorrow.
The Chamber Judge came up with the order following a petition filed by Bangladesh Bank seeking a stay on the High Court order.
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam stood for the central bank.
Earlier on January 7, the High Court stayed the January 12 recruitment tests for senior officers, officers and cash officers in the three state-run banks.
It also issued a rule asking the respondents to explain within four weeks why they should not be directed to hold the recruitment exams for the three banks as per the 2016 circulars, which were separately issued by the BB, before holding the recruitment tests based on the 2017 circular.
Without holding the recruitment exams in line with the circulars, the Bangladesh Bank issued a combined circular for recruitment in these posts of eight state-run banks, including Sonali, Rupali and Janata, which is illegal, he said, adding that his clients had not applied for the posts when the combined circular was issued in 2017.
