Secretariat Correspondent: Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Saturday said that the expatriates will no longer need to pay any charge to send their earnings to home from next fiscal year 2017-18.
The minister made the disclosure while addressing a pre-budget meeting with members of the Economic Reporters Forum (ERF) at his secretariat office in the capital.
He said that the government took the decision as the remittance flow decreased recently.
AMA Muhith also said, "Currently, we're charging the expatriates for sending money. But, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has instructed us not to charge them."
The authority will take a process so that the expatriates can send their money without any charge, he added.
Bangladesh Bank governor Fazle Kabir, finance division senior secretary Hedayetullah Al Mamoon, ERF president Saiful Islam, General secretary Ziaur Rahman and others attended the programme.
