No legal bar to execute militant Ripon

Sylhet Correspondent: The President has dismissed the clemency plea of death-row convict Delwar Hossain Ripon, the associate of Mufti Abdul Hannan, chief of banned Islamist outfit Harkat-ul- Jihad al-Islam Bangladesh (Huji).
A letter in this regard reached the Sylhet Central Jail on Tuesday, confirmed senior jail super Md Sogir Mia.
He said there is no more legal bar to execute Ripon as the jail authority got the letter rejecting his mercy plea by the president.
However, we must follow the instructions of top authority in case of executing Ripon, he added.
Earlier, President Abdul Hamid rejected Mufti Hannan's mercy petition as well.
