No one will be able to keep BNP aside from polls: Khaleda

Senior Correspondent: Pointing towards the government, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia said that no one will be able to keep BNP aside from the 11th national parliamentary election.

The BNP chief made the assertion while addressing a gathering of activists of her party’s student wing Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh in the capital on Tuesday evening.

She said, “Elections cannot be held keeping this parliament and elections can also not be held under any partisan government."

Khaleda Zia said, “The BNP is an election-oriented political party. We’ll take part in the polls. But, the election should be held under a neutral and non-party government, not under Sheikh Hasina."

"If the government thinks it will announce the election after arresting BNP leaders and activists it will not work this time," she added.

Chhatra Dal president Rajib Ahsan presided over the programme where acting general secretary Asaduzzaman Asad, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee member Maudud Ahmed, Abdul Moin Khan, Vice Chairman Abdullah Al Noman, Abdul Awal Mintu, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's adviser Amanullah Aman and others spoke in the programme.
