No scope to defer polls: CEC

Staff Correspondent: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda has said that there is no scope to defer the upcoming 11th national elections from its latest scheduled date.
The CEC made the assertion while addressing a programme of returning officers in capital’s Agargaon on Tuesday.
He said, “The Ijtema is scheduled to start on January 11. The government will remain busy at that time. Besides, there is a programme of Christian community. So, December 30 is proper time for election.”
Following the announcement of Jatiya Oikya Front, CEC said, “We are happy as all the political parties are going to join the polls.”
KM Nurul Huda said, “New history will be created. A stable situation will be created through the election will be held under the existing parliament.
Four election commissioners and EC secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed attended the function.
