Nobody allowed to meet Khaleda, Fakhrul alleges

Senior Correspondent: BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said nobody is currently being allowed to meet the party chairperson Khaleda Zia in jail.

He termed it as contrary to the jail code and violation of human rights.

The BNP stalwart said this in a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan central in the capital on Wednesday.

Fakhrul said BNP chief Khaleda Zia is now being deprived of constitutional rights which she is supposed to receive as a captive. Family members have not been allowed to meet her for last 11 days. They met her for the last time on June 30. Not only we the party leaders, but also lawyers and physicians are not allowed to meet her.

He said, “We are alleging from the very beginning that traps of different cases were made against the BNP chairperson. She was rapidly given punishment setting up a separate court in a bid to minus her from the politics. Their thrones of way will be removed once they are able to make her quit.”
