Nobody will have to return with empty hand: Finance Minister

Staff Correspondent: Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has told to the businessmen that nobody will have to return with empty hand.


The finance minister said this at a discussion with trade bodies and businessmen organized at the NEC conference room in the city’s Agargaon on Thursday.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal and Prime Minister’s Private Sector and Investment Advisor Salman F Rahman held the first meeting with trade bodies and businessmen as part of an initiative to set up targets for creating a business-friendly environment for the country's economic development.

At the beginning of the discussion, delegates from different organizations introduced themself. Finance Minister Mustafa Kamal said at that time, “you will not have to go back with empty hand”.

He said “We are all part of the government. We will work for the country. We will work with new ideas to meet the needs of the country”.

Mustafa Kamal said, there is no alternative to private sector to take the country forward. The sector contributes about 80 to 82 per cent of the country’s development.

 

The finance minister said "There are some challenges in the private sector and we want to overcome those. With the help of everyone, the country will go forward".

Salman F Rahman said “We are all part of the parliament (Jatiya Sangsad). We want to move forward with you. The private sector is very important to take the country forward. Depending on the private sector we want to go ahead”.

 

The participating organization and trade bodies were Bangladesh Investment Promotion Authority, Bangladesh Bank, National Board of Revenue, Finance Division, Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission, Financial Institutions Division, Bangladesh Economic Zone Authority, Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority, Public Private Partnership Authority, National Skill Development Authority, FBCCI, Bangladesh Insurance Association, DCCI, MCCI, REHAB, Bangladesh Chamber of Industries, Leather Goods and Footwear  Manufacturers Association of Bangladesh, Foreign Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bangladesh Cold Storage Association, Bangladesh Plastic Goods Manufacturers and Exporters Association, Dhaka Stock Exchange, ICMAB, Bangladesh Leasing and Finance Companies Association, etc.
