None alive at Basila ‘militant den’

Staff Correspondent:  The members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have said that none alive after a blast in a suspected militant den at Basila in the capital’s Mohammadpur.

Mufti Mahmud Khan, Director of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), said two persons have been confirmed killed inside the suspected militant den amid blasts and gunfire exchange during a crackdown.

Last reported, the tin-shed single-storied house in Metro Housing Limited caught fire while bomb disposal was sweeping the area. Firefighters were called.

Rab had evacuated nearby residents in the wee hours, and, until now, were keeping the area under a tight security cordon.

RAB members entered the house around 9.00am and saw improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

Earlier, the elite force members cordoned off the house from around 3:30am to 5.00am.
