Staff Correspondent: Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) thinks that it is not possible to bring an end to corruption if corrupt people are given a chance to do corruption.
The anti-graft agency also said that it is possible to stop corruption if the agencies dealing with the prevention of corruption are given an opportunity to work independently.
Ahead of International Anti-Corruption Day on December 9, TIB Board of Trustees Chairman Sultana Kamal came up with the opinions while addressing an oath-taking programme at Central Shaheed Minar in the capital at 11:30am on Tuesday.
At the beginning of the programme, TIB Executive Director Dr Iftekharuzzaman said the agencies or people speaking against corruption will have to provide an opportunity to work freely. Security should be ensured for them. Side by side, proper action will have to take against those doing corruption.
TIB Board of Trustees Chairman Sultana Kamal administered the oath-taking programme where youths from different educational institutions in the city took oath against corruption.
Bangladesh government decided to observe the day nationally this year for the first time.
