Entertainment Correspondent: The renowned filmmaker, actor, scriptwriter and lyricist Amjad Hossain has passed away.
He breathed his last at Bumrungrad International Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand at 2:57pm (local time) on Friday.
Film director SA Haque Alik confirmed the news to risingbd.
He said, “Film director Sohel Arman currently accompanies with him (Amjad Hossain). Decision about when the body would be brought home has yet not been taken.”
Amjad Hossain was taken to Impulse Hospital in the capital’s Tejgaon on November 18, after he had a stroke. He was kept in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in the hospital. Later, he was taken to Thailand for advanced treatment.
Amjad Hossain stepped into the film industry as an actor in ‘Harano Din’ in 1961. Later, he paid focus on writing scripts and directing films. He made debut as film director through ‘Agun Niye Khela’ in 1967.
Later, he achieved praises for his films- Nayanmoni (1976), Golapi Ekhon Traine (1978) and Bhat De (1984).
He achieved Bangladesh National Film Award for Nayanmoni for the first time in 1976. Since, Golapi Ekhon Traine, Sundori, Bhat De and Joyjatra brought Bangladesh National Film Award to him gradually.
