Entertainment Correspondent: Award winning singer Shammi Akhtar has died of cancer. She was 62.
She breathed her last in a hospital in the capital on Tuesday afternoon. She had been suffering from breast cancer for last six years.
She left behind husband, a son, and a host of friends, relatives, well-wishers and admirers to mourn her death.
She won Bangladesh National Film Award in 2010.
Her popular renditions like Dhaka Shohor Aisa Amar Asha Furaichhe, Ami Jemon Achhi Temon Robo Bow Hobonare, Bhalobasleo Sobar Sathe Ghor Badha Jaina and others won the hearts of millions.
