Now Madrasa teachers declare for hunger strike

Staff Correspondent: Teachers of ebtedai madrasas, the primary level educational institutions under madrasa board, have been observing sit-in programme in front of the capital's National Press Club for eight days.

Now they have decided to go on fast-unto-death as they did not get any positive response from the government.

Ebtedai madrasa teachers have announced to go on hunger strike till death since 11:00am on Tuesday, if their demands are not met within Monday.

Qazi Ruhul Amin Chowdhury, president of Bangladesh Swatantra Ebtedai Madrasa Shikkhak Samity, said, "There are 10 thousands of Ebtedai Madrasas across the country where more than 50 thousands teachers engaged in teaching. But we do not get any penny for this."

"We will go on fast-unto-death from 11:00am on Tuesday, if we do not get assurance to meet our demands within today (Monday). We will continue our demonstration until our demands are met," he added.
