Nusrat murder: Writ filed seeking judicial investigation

Staff Correspondent: A writ petition has been filed with the High Court (HC) seeking judicial investigation and compensation over the murder of Feni madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi.

Supreme Court lawyer Yunus Ali Akand filed the petition with the concerned department of the HC on Wednesday.

In the petition, the lawyer also prayed to the HC to direct the authorities concerned of the government to pay adequate compensation for the family members of Nusrat.

Nusrat, a student of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa, was set ablaze on April 6 allegedly for refusing to withdraw a case filed against the principal for sexually harassing her late last month.

She lost her battle for life on April 10, five days after she was set afire -- an incident that sparked outrage all over the country.
