O'Keefe charged with conduct breach

Sports Desk: Australia test spinner Stephen O'Keefe has been fined half his match fee for showing dissent at an umpire's decision during New South Wales' JLT Sheffield Shield match against Victoria last week.

O'Keefe was charged with committing a level one offence – the lowest on Cricket Australia’s disciplinary scale – after expressing his displeasure with his dismissal in NSW's second innings at North Sydney Oval.

With a cluster of fielders stationed around the bat and the Blues desperately trying to block out a draw on the final day of the match, O'Keefe was given out caught behind to Bushrangers off-spinner Glenn Maxwell.

A shocked O'Keefe held his hands out in apparent disbelief at the decision while the visitors celebrated. He was seen on the live stream muttering words as he walked off the ground.
NSW finished the day eight wickets down, holding on for a draw to deny their bitter rivals Victoria their first win of the season.

Because O'Keefe admitted the offence and accepted the sanction, no hearing was required.
O'Keefe is currently playing for NSW in their match against Tasmania in Hobart, collecting 1-77 from 16 overs on the opening day at Blundstone Arena on Monday.

The left-armer most recently played for Australia on their Qantas Tour of Bangladesh in September, earning a shock recall for the second Test in Chittagong having originally been left out of the squad all together.

After collecting 19 wickets on Australia’s Test tour of India, O'Keefe was slapped with a $20,000 fine and banned for the JLT One-Day Cup in an alcohol-related incident after a Cricket NSW function in April.
