Staff Correspondent: Opposition alliance Jatiya Oikyafront leaders have said they will continue the trial of war crimes accused, if they can come to power through winning the 11th national election.

Jatiya Oikyafront on Monday rolled out its 14-point election manifesto with various promises, including ensuring the balance between the power of the President and the Prime Minister, introducing upper house in Parliament and continuing trial of war criminals.

Chief of the alliance Dr Kamal Hossain unveiled the election manifesto at a city hotel on Monday.

BNP Secretary-General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, JSD President ASM Abdur Rab, Krishak Sramik Janata League President Kader Siddique, Gonoshasthaya Kendra Trustee Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury and Nagorik Oikya Convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna, among others, were present there.

In its manifesto, Jatiya Oikyafront promised to ensure democracy so that one-party rule cannot take root in the country. “National unity, not the political vengeance, is our goal,” Dr Kamal said while announcing the manifesto.

There will be no age limit for government jobs except those of police and the armed forces, he said.

The Oikyafront also promised to scrap the Digital Security Act.
