Old man beaten dead in Comilla

Staff Correspondent, Comilla: Some miscreants allegedly beat an old man to death failing to get extortion from him in Chanpur area of the district town on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Sadek Ali Khandakar, 60, son of late Montoz Ali.

Local sources said that the victim bought a land to build a house in Chanpur area. But, some youths demanded extortion from him centering house building.

Sadek Ali went to his residence from Dhaka today. Meanwhile, the extortionists claimed extortion and attacked him with hammer as he refused to pay extortion, leaving him dead on the spot.

Confirming the matter, Comilla Katwali Model police station Inspector (Investigation) Salauddin said that following the murder, police detained three people for their alleged involvement.
