One held over Rifat murder

Barguna Correspondent: Police has held one person in connection with the murder of Rifat Sharif, who was stabbed dead in front of his wife in broad day light in Barguna.

Police arrested Chandan, an accused in the case, around 9.00pm on Thursday.

Officer-in-Charge of Barguna Sadar Thana Abir Mohammad Hossain confirmed the matter.

Police are conducting drives to arrest the rest of the accused, the OC added.
Victim's father Abdul Halim Dulal Sharif filed a case against 12 people including Chandan with Barguna Sadar Police Station last night.

About 4/5 criminals including Nayan and Rifat Farajee attacked Rifat with sharp weapon in broad daylight in front of Barguna Government College Wednesday morning while her wife was desperately trying to save him.

The entire incident was captured possibly on a mobile phone and footage of the incident went viral on social media.

Immediately after the attack, locals took Rifat to Barishal Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital (BSMCH).  Later, he was later pronounced dead.

Rifat was the only son of Abdul Halim Dulal Sharif at Boro Lobongola village in Burirchar union under Barguna sadar upazila.
