One killed in Chattogram ‘gunfight’

Staff Correspondent, Chattogram:  A suspected robber was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police in Uttar Kattali Beribadh area under Pahartoli Thana early Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Sabuj Prokash alias Pichchi Sabuj (25).

Officer-in-charge of Pahartoli Thana Sadip Kumar Das said being tipped of that a gang of robbers were taking preparation to commit robbery, a team of police conducted a drive in the area.

The gunfight ensued after the cohorts of the victims opened fire on the law enforcers and the latter retaliated in their self defence. At one stage, police recovered the body of Sabuj and arrested Apu from the spot.

The law enforcers recovered one pistol, two guns, one LG, a toy pistol and seven bullets were recovered from the spot.

Sabuj was wanted in 8 cases, said the police official.
