One killed in Narayanganj ‘gunfight’

Narayanganj Correspondent: A suspected robber was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with the members of Detective Branch (DB) police at Rupganj early Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Shorif Mia (36), son of Mohammad Ali, at Majipara of Rupganj upazila.

According to police, a gang of robbers were taking preparation to commit robbery in good-ladden transports on 300-feet Road & Asian Highway in Chowrasta area.

Tipped-off, a team of DB police went to the scene but sensing the presence of law enforcers, the robbers fired upon, forcing the policemen to back fire that triggered a gunfight.

Shorif Mia received bullet injury in the gunfight and he was immediately taken to a hospital where duty doctors declared him dead.

Police held another robber named Anis.

Police also recovered a foreign pistol, machete and knife from the spot.
