One killed in Savar ‘gunfight’

Staff Correspondent: A suspected drug peddler was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with the police in Birulia area of Savar on Thursday midnight.

The deceased was identified as Muktar Hossain Mukti.


Police said that Muktar Hossain Mukti was arrested on Thursday. As his confessional statement, along with him a raid was carried out in Birulia area to rescue  drugs and arms. At that time, his companions attacked the police, forcing them to back fire. Mukti was killed in the police firing.  A police member was injured in the incident. Weapons and bullets were recovered from the scene.

Savar Model Thana Officer in-Charge (OC) SM Kamruzzaman confirmed the matter. He said the body of the deceased was sent to the morgue for autopsy.
