Order on Khaleda Zia's bail plea today

Staff Correspondent: The High Court (HC) on Monday will pass its verdict on the bail petition filed by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.

The HC bench, comprising Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Shahidul Karim, is scheduled to pass the order on Monday.

Earlier on Sunday, the court deferred the order date as the case records from the lower court did not reach the HC. Later, the court fixed Monday for taking decision upon bail petition in the case.

On March 8, the High Court fixed March 11 for passing orders regarding the bail petition of Khaleda in the graft case.

On February 8, a special court convicted former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia and sentenced her to five years' rigorous imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the graft case with Ramna Police Station in July 2008, accusing the six of misappropriating over Tk 2.1 crore that came from a foreign bank as grants for orphans.
